CDCSB is part of a coalition fighting to protect the state’s affordable housing law also known as Chapter 40B, or the “Comprehensive Permit”. The law has produced 80% of the affordable housing units in Massachusetts outside of major cities. More then 58,000 homes have been created for working families, seniors, and people with disabilities all over the state because of this law. In South Berkshire County every new affordable housing unit built in the last ten years has used Chapter 40B for permitting; it is THE statute that makes “smart growth, higher density housing in our town centers” possible.
